Our CR-39 Polarized Lens Technology
WHAT IS CR39?
CR-39 plastic, or” Columbia Resin #39” named after a resin formulation used by the
original manufacturer, has become one of the most common plastics used to make lenses. CR-39
is an optical degree for plastic polymer which is measured by the light weight, chemical
resistance properties and tint-ability. CR-39 is more scratch resistant than polycarbonate.
But please note it does not mean CR-39 will not scratch, if the lenses are not taken
good care of lens can be scratched.ca
WHY DO WE USE AND TRUST CR-39 TO MAKE OUR LENSES?
- It has High abrasion resistance, in fact the highest abrasion/scratch resistance
of any uncoated optical plastic.
- Has a High refractive index of 1.498 allowing us to provide superior sun protection.
- CR-39 more scratch resistant than polycarbonate so our glasses can go further.
WHY ARE WE TELLING YOU ALL OF THIS?
Our answer is a SIMPLE ….Because we want you to know that IMPERIAL OPTICS is dedicated
to providing you with
QUALITY YOU CAN TRUST
Since CR-39 lenses are made by pouring liquid polymer into a mold of optically treated
glass, it takes on the same characteristics as glass. As such, it is considered almost
as pure as glass and provides great visual quality. CR-39 lenses provide very little
visual distortion. They are not as visually accurate as glass but better than polycarbonate
lenses of, they will also scratch.
